The building of U.S. Embassy in Baghdad suffered a missile attack on January 13, Shafaq reported, citing the law enforcement agencies.

According to the source, there were three missiles fired from Qarara district of Al Dora town, to the south of Baghdad. Two of these projectiles were shot down by the anti-missile defense system, and the third one fell near the embassy building.

Two people were reportedly injured in the shelling.

The U.S. Embassy is located in the so-called green zone, a well-protected area of Baghdad where foreign and government assets are located. It is completely surrounded by parkland and barbed wire. This area is considered the most secure place in the country. Nevertheless, the American embassy is regularly bombarded. Last year, for example, the diplomatic office was hit by a missile. It was hit by U.S. missile defenses, but one rocket fell near the protesters and injured a child, as well as damaged a residential building.
