The release of Ukrainian POWs is the main question discussed by the Minsk trilateral group, which aims to find the peaceful way of solving the armed hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

This round of talks, traditionally held in the Belarusian capital is the ninth since the beginning of this year.

As is known, Kyiv offers Moscow to exchange Ukrainians on 23 Russians, judged for the crimes against the Ukrainian state. The previous round of negotiations between Ukraine and the militants, held on May 4, failed and the sides could not find any consensus, all the more militants increased the fire density in the combat area.

Previously, Iryna Gerashchenko, the Ukrainian MP, the country’s representative in the humanitarian subgroup in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas appealed to the European colleagues with an urge to address to Russia’s President Vladimir Putin with a request before the 2018 FIFA World Cup to pardon the Ukrainian citizens in the Russian prisons.
