The trilateral negotiation group working to solve the Donbas conflict will gather in Minsk on Wednesday. According to Radio Liberty reporter Valeriy Kalynovsky, the parties are first of all going to discuss the issue of releasing and exchanging POWs.
‘This topic remains the most sensitive one when it comes to negotiations. It is about 129 Ukrainian fighters remaining in captivity by the pro-Kremlin militants. They want to exchange them for 600 of their comrades. By now, the sides have completed the verification process of those who’d like to stay on the government-controlled territories of the combat zone. But the talks are still going on. Besides, the security issues in the combat area remain up to date’, he said.
The reporter added that Donbas conflict will be the milestone topic for discussion during the 26th session of OSCE parliamentary Assembly. It kicks off in Minsk today. ‘The session will be running for five days. The Ukrainian delegation will bring up the issue of immediate release of POWs and political prisoners,’ Kalynovsky said.
