The head of the national immunization program of the Center for Public Health, Olexandr Zaika said that during the fifth wave of vaccination against coronavirus, the immunization of children will be allowed. This was reported by Ukrinform.
"During the fifth wave, vaccination of children will be allowed. But it will be necessary to look at our recommendations, which children will need to be given an advantage in the first place," Zaika said.
According to him, children will be vaccinated on the recommendation of doctors, the injection will be given with the Pfizer vaccine.
"If we are talking about children 12-16 years old, then you should know that this is Pfizer and there will be a clear algorithm in what cases. For example, a child goes abroad to study, competitions, to some kind of competitions, and this provides for two vaccinations," said the official.
Ukraine will receive this batch of the drug via the COVAX international vaccine-sharing program.
The doses are part of President Joe Biden's promise to share doses of U.S. vaccine with other countries around the world, via COVAX or directly. An additional 3.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine are planned to be sent to Bangladesh over the weekend.
