MFA summoned Polish Ambassador due to ban on entry to Sheremeta

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Polish ambassador in connection with the ban on entry for Secretary of the State Interdepartmental Commission for the commemoration of Donbas conflict participants, victims of war and political repressions Svyatoslav Sheremeta. This was reported by the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Marian Betz.

"We urgently call the Polish Ambassador to Ukraine in connection with the non-admission of the Secretary of the State Interdepartmental Commission Svyatoslav Sheremeta," she wrote.

We recall that the Polish border guards on November 18 did not allow Svyatoslav Sheremeta through the checkpoint Shegyni, forbidding him to enter the country for a period of one year. According to Polish media, he was on the black list of Ukrainians made by the Polish Foreign Ministry. Polish Foreign Ministry refused to make public the names of those who fell into the "black list."

In addition to Sheremet, it can also include the director of the National Memory Institute Volodymyr Vyatrovych. It is he who is responsible for the historical cooperation between the countries. The Polish Ministry of Education expressed dissatisfaction with his actions, calling him "an irresponsible person with intrusive anti-Polish ideas."

The thing is that Ukraine has canceled permits for the Polish National Memory Institute to conduct search and exhumation of Poles buried in Ukraine and does not agree to their restoration. It happened after the monument of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army in Grushovici (Poland) was demolished in April.

At the meeting of the Consultative Committee on November 17, initiated by the presidents of the two countries, the Ukrainian side agreed to withdraw a moratorium on exhumation for Poland. To discuss this issue, it was decided to hold an intergovernmental meeting at the level of vice prime ministers in the near future.
