German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation, marking the anniversary of the 1941 Nazi invasion in the USSR.
During the phone call, Merkel invited Zelensky to discuss the bilateral relations and peaceful solution to the conflict in Donbas; press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine reported that on June 22.
In turn, Zelensky offered Merkel to join the first summit of Crimean Platform initiative and other events timed to the 30th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine.
Earlier, the German Chancellor delivered a speech focused on the 80th anniversary of the 1941 Nazi invasion in the USSR. In particular, she mentioned the Russian annexation of Crimea and the ongoing conflict in Donbas.
