German Chancellor Angela Merkel states that Georgia, along with Ukraine, has the greatest European perspective. She stated this during a meeting with students on her visit to Georgia, local media reported.
"As for Germany's policy towards Eastern Europe, it's not a new initiative. Heiko Maas only stressed that good relations with Russia are very important, since it is a neighbor of the European Union, but on the other hand, we need a clear policy, how everything should be formed with regard to Eastern Europe, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, but Georgia and Ukraine are exactly the countries, which have the greatest European perspective, "she said.
The German Chancellor also stressed that in the next 10 years "those steps that will be necessary to take in the future will be highlighted."
It should be noted that President Petro Poroshenko during his speech at the parade in Kyiv promised in the near future to submit to the parliament the bill that fixes the course of Euro-Atlantic integration of the country in the Constitution.
"I will insist on consolidating our aspiration to join the European Union and join NATO. The lawyers have found a formula on how to do it optimally and quickly. On the opening of the autumn session at Verkhovna Rada, which is scheduled for September 4, my relevant bill will be registered," said Poroshenko.
He stressed that politicians will do everything "day and night" to accept it.
We recall that in 2017 the Ukrainian parliament passed a law restoring the country's course towards NATO membership as a strategic goal of foreign and security policy.
In turn, NATO began a discussion on the possibility of providing an Action Plan on Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
