Merkel: Extension of anti-Russian sanctions necessary

German leader sees no obstacles for prolonging restrictive measures against the Kremlin

‘We have stated clearly that, unfortunately, due to the current status of implementation of Minsk agreements, we need extension of sanctions against Russia. That is, there are no more obstacles for such extension’. The German chancellor said this to the press, adding that she and her French counterpart Francois Hollande discussed the implementation of Minsk deal at the EU summit in Brussels on June 28 (Interfax).
