The meeting of Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow has ended in Istanbul, Turkey as SPZH reported.
According to the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church, the atmosphere of the meeting was very nice and they succeeded to discuss “all issues on the agenda”.
“Good meeting, the atmosphere was very nice. We discussed all those issues on the agenda. I hope that we will continue to work together to make the world a better place,” Patriarch Kirill said.
Also, according to him, “a lot of things happened in the lives of our Churches and the situation in the world completely changed” during two years since the last meeting of the patriarchs.
Talking about the pan-orthodox dialogue, Patriarch Kirill noted:
“The issues that become the challenges for the Churches from the pastoral point of view appear constantly. The world changes very quickly and any Church cannot make the decisions that contradict the position of another Orthodox Church.”
However, Russian Patriarch did not disclose the details of the talk with Patriarch Bartholomew I.
“Without negotiation with His Holiness I would not like to tell you the details, however, there were no secrets, nothing that can lead to the mind blown. The talk was very right - the talk of the heads of two Churches, who aware of the responsibility for the state of the Pan-Orthodoxy and state of human souls in the places or countries over our liability,” he emphasized.
Earlier the mass media reported that the patriarchs should discuss on the provision of the autocephaly to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to the data, the talks lasted for two hours and were private with the participation of Metropolitan of France Immanuel and Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Ilarion.
