Meeting of the Normandy Four leaders will begin in Paris on December 9 at 5:00 p.m Kyiv time (4:00 p.m. local time) as Ukrinform reported citing Ulrike Demmer, the Spokesperson of the German government.
“The working meeting in the quadrilateral format should start at 4:00 p.m. The joint conference is planned for 7:00 p.m,” Demmer said.
It is reported that before the Normandy Four session, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will hold bilateral meetings with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Demmer noted that Berlin hopes that “the new impetus in the peace process and agreement of new steps” will be the result of the first in three years summit.
As we reported earlier, the Normandy format meeting of the countries' leaders is scheduled for December 9 and will be held in the Palais de l'Élysée in Paris. The Office of the President of Ukraine in its turn confirmed that all sides agreed on the date of the Normandy Format summit – December 9, Paris.
However, Kremlin spokesman urges not to overestimate expectations from the Normandy summit. Dmitry Peskov, Press Secretary of the Russian President, reiterated it is necessary to pass a law on the special status of Donbas as part of the Minsk agreements.
Earlier Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the elections in occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions might take place only according to Ukrainian legislation.
Besides, Zelensky will lay down conditions for the negotiations with particular areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions during the Normandy Summit in Paris.
