Ending the persecution of the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk will show that Ukraine shares European legal values. The opposition politician's lawyer Bertrand Malmendier stated this during a press conference on the topic "Leading European lawyer joins the team of legal defense of the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk."

"You know, the rule of law in the European Union and in the member states of European Union has a tradition which goes back to the 18th century and then we had a development of 300 years which led to the European Constitution we have today and the Convention on Human Rights which was adopted after the Second World war. And the republic of Ukraine wants to become a part of this family and also of the European values connected to this family and I think and it’s also my motivation, we should support this country on this path and help it to comply with our values. And the cause of Mr. Medvedchuk is unfortunately a good example where we can support this process," he said.

Earlier it was reported that a leading European lawyer Bertrand Malmendier joined legal defense team of Viktor Medvedchuk, Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life and MP.
