Interparliamentary dialogue between Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France became the central topic for discussion between Viktor Medvedchuk and Vyacheslav Volodin. Ukraine's MP and the Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party and Head of Russia's State Duma met on December 24.

"This matter was a big one; we discussed it and agreed that the next meeting would take place in a broader line-up - on the Russian side and on the side of our colleagues from the Parliament of Ukraine", he said.
The leader of the Duma hoped that joining efforts would make the lawmakers understand each other better. "It's extremely important to us that not only the situation would normalize but also Minsk agreements were fulfilled", he said.
In turn, Medvedchuk reported that he considered idea of parliamentary dimensions in this issue a strategic one, "because today, peace in southeastern Ukraine is the main task". People are expecting the implementation of the Minsk agreement within the Normandy format, he said.
"Parliaments of these countries (Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany, - 112 International) can contribute to the implementation of Minsk agreements, assist the Normandy format in the search and implementation of peaceful initiatives", Medvedchuk claimed. He also marked the special role of the Ukrainian Parliament in the implementation of the laws that make the basis of the political part of the Minsk agreements.
