The majority of the Ukrainian people believe that the ban on the Russian films, books, culture activists, language quotes – all those ‘democratic’ innovations as if pro-European Ukraine is dictated only by the anti-Russian sentiment policy. Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of the Political Council of “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party stated that.
“The digits speak louder than words, as according to the polls that had been conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from February 28 till March 11, 53.5% of Ukrainians are convinced that the ban of Russian TV-channels is a mistake and it restricts the rights of the citizens. Only the third of people (31.7%) agrees with the ban”, - Medvedchuk said.
According to the polls, 59.6% of the citizens have a negative opinion of the ban of some Russian artists touring in Ukraine and the broadcasting of the Russian films in Ukraine, and only 27.7% stand for this ban. 53.2% of people believe that the ban of Russian social networks is a mistake as well and it restricts their rights, while only 28.8% endorse this ban.
42.2% of people believe that the language quota is inappropriate, while only 32.2% support it.
“Apparently, the Ukrainian people do not support fully any of the reforms by Parubiy-Kyrylenko-Viatrovych and other famous patriots. The best evidence is the very fact that despite the radical anti-Russian sentiment policy, which the current government represents as the national idea, the attitude of the Ukrainian people towards Russia is improving. In September 2018, the attitude towards Russia was assessed as "very good" or "good" by 48% of people, then in February 2019, the percentage grew to 57%. This is the best answer to all the so-called patriots, who have been trying to stir up hatred between our nations for five years”, the Chairman of the Political Council added.
