Ukraine runs to the European Union, where noone wants to see it. Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life Party Viktor Medvedchuk said this in an interview with 112 Ukraine, ZIK, NewsOne and Inter TV channels.
"President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that we believe that the EU should provide us with full membership in the EU. Confidently and matter-of-factly. Thinking that it was a product designed for domestic consumption in Ukraine because there he did not make an indelible impression. And the President of the European Commission the representative of Germany der Leyen participated in this forum and was chaired it. She later answered our president in the manner of a strict teacher towards the student. She told him: first, the Association Agreement is only an agreement on a free economic zone between the EU and Ukraine. This is an economic agreement. When it is fulfilled, then we will talk about other formats," he said.
At the same time, the politician stressed that the Association Agreement and the corresponding agreement on free trade do not imply EU membership.
“That is, it was said, you know, I would say - with a swing. The question is: why should we say that the President of Ukraine believes that the EU should grant us EU membership? Is it not enough that we have a course to the EU, we are doing everything in order to achieve the EU criteria and then, as a result, EU membership? Why is this happening? Then I received an answer. But this answer does not humiliate the president of the country and specifically Zelensky, it humiliates the country itself. We are running somewhere, we are going to Europe, we are running somewhere where no one wants to see us. We want something that even those who make this decision do not understand. But how can representatives of state authorities today afford such statements when they know that they can get an answer, and it is an unsparing answer? And we received it, but for some reason very little has been written about it. But, in fact, this is a demonstration of the EU's attitude to Ukraine," Medvedchuk added.
