The Crimean Platform summit became a PR campaign of the Kyiv authorities, and they failed to hold it, as the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life and MP Viktor Medvedchuk believes. RIA Novosti reported this.
Crimean Platform summit took place in Kyiv on August 23 on Ukraine’s initiative. The issue of “returning” control over Crimea was discussed on it. Over 40 countries and international organizations participated in the summit. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky called the start of the summit a success and said that a “powerful international coalition for the liberation of Crimea from Russian occupation” had been formed on the Crimean Platform. The press secretary of the president of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov declared that the Crimean platform has an unfriendly character, Moscow, according to him, is making conclusions.
“It (the Crimean Platform) cannot be regarded otherwise than a PR campaign of the authorities. Moreover, this PR campaign by the authorities failed. None of the heads of state or the G7 countries took part in this event, nor did the G20 countries leaders,” Medvedchuk said on Wednesday on Russia 1 TV channel.
In addition, he said that the summit was attended by “only over 40 countries.”
“I'm not talking about the level of this representation now. There is actually no representation of 4/5 of the total number of countries in the world. This means that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine failed this action," the politician stressed.
