The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, does not encroach on the statehood of Ukraine and even on building the so-called "anti-Russia" in Ukraine, he asks how the citizens of Ukraine feel about it.
Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life Party Viktor Medvedchuk said this in an interview with the Pershiy Nezalezhniy TV channel, answering the question of what, in his opinion, actions from the Russian Federation could follow if Ukraine continues to build a state as an "anti-Russia" project.
“In fact, in your question you answered what you wanted to hear from me. Yes, indeed, apparently, today in Russia a certain ideological basis of attitude to what is happening in Ukraine is being formed. And this is not in vain, you rightly said that Mr Putin declared about the protection of the Russian-speaking population. Moreover, he has his own position on the issues of Ukraine and, in particular, on the main issue that always provokes heated discussions and which has been a kind of sword of Damocles for Ukraine for the last seven years - the establishment of peace in Donbas. After all, Mr. Putin has repeatedly said that Donbas is Ukraine. Today, I have already said, and I want to emphasize especially that Mr. Putin does not encroach on the statehood of Ukraine, he does not even encroach on building the "anti-Russia" in Ukraine. But he talks about this and, I would say, he focuses on the fact that "will the Russian-speaking population agree with this, will the ethnic Russians who are citizens of Ukraine agree with this, how will those people who today live in the uncontrolled territories of Donbas react to this, how the authorities with their policy of language discrimination, the policy of confrontation with Russia, the policy of non-compliance with the Minsk agreements can attract people and guide them, as they believe, in the right direction of the so-called state policy?" the politician said.
At the same time, Medvedchuk added that as a citizen of Ukraine he doubts that today millions of fellow citizens will support the policy that is being pursued in Ukraine.
“Yes, in fact, we know how much the actions of the authorities in general and the actions of President Zelensky are today supported by the citizens of Ukraine. After all, this is absolutely no secret today that discrimination of the Russian language is negatively perceived among the Russian-speaking population. A complete ban on creativity, media, cultural heritage, which was our common one. Moreover, it was not just our common, it was developed by both the Ukrainian and Russian people, and many other peoples of the former Soviet Union. It is actually banned today," he explained.
As we reported, on August 23, the website of the Opposition Platform - For Life Party published an article "What could Ukraine be like? What should Ukraine be like?" written by Chairman of Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life Party Viktor Medvedchuk. In it, he writes, among other things, that the ideology of "anti-Russia" destroys the Ukrainian state, lowers us not even to the level of the Middle Ages, but to the level of a tribe that has one language, one cuisine, one dances and one idols.
