It is necessary to observe the norms of the Constitution and the Land Code, providing the people with land plots and right to own it, and then talk about its sale. The Chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life Party, MP Viktor Medvedchuk said this during a working visit to Zakarpattia region.

“You know, there is an overall assessment today across the country that, according to the latest data, 64% do not support the sale of agricultural land, firstly. And secondly, most people are in favor of this issue being solved only with a positive decision in an all-Ukrainian referendum. It is a common position that has formed in all regions, including Zakarpattia. Therefore, it is necessary to comply with the Constitution, to comply with the norms of the Land Code, to provide people with those plots and ownership of land, and then talk about selling it,” he said.

The politician reminded that in accordance with the Land Code, adopted back in 2001, according to Art. 121, every citizen of Ukraine has the right for a share for farming if he worked in an agricultural collective or in an agricultural enterprise at the time of deciding on land shares. Every citizen has the right to receive free land up to 2 hectares for farming, every citizen has the right to 12 acres of land for gardening, every citizen has the right to 10 acres of land in the city for residential area, for 15 acres - in the urban-type settlement, 25 acres - in the village.
