There are grounds for early for holding early parliamentary elections which would better reflect people’s interest. Chairman of the Political Council of Opposition Platform - For Life party and MP Viktor Medvedchuk stated this in an interview with the Bloomberg news agency.
“There are grounds for early elections, which would better reflect people’s interest,” he said, conceding that triggering a snap vote would be very difficult.
Answering a question regarding the reasons for the popularity of the Opposition Platform - For Life party, the politician noted that this happened, first of all, because the party consistently defends people’s interests and the program with which went to the polls.
One of the key tasks of the political force, according to him, is to establish peace in Donbas as Zelenskiy has failed to deliver on promises of peace that helped the then-political novice to a landslide election victory in 2019, he said.
“There’s no trust in Zelenskiy or his party,” said Viktor Medvedchuk.
He stressed that the current government, in order to establish peace in the east of the country, must fulfill the Minsk agreements and restore a dialogue with Russia.
“I say openly that we should walk the same road with Russia, that we need to do everything to restore relations,” Medvedchuk said in an interview. “People believe that more and more.”
