The authorities have crossed all the red lines when they blocked the release of four women from occupied Donbas. This was stated by the Сhairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk before the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv on Thursday, July 8.

“For many years I have done everything to free our citizens from both sides. And there are more than a thousand people who were released. Unfortunately, today the authorities are demonstrating that they are unable to do this, and for more than a year, there have been no exchanges, no releases, "Medvedchuk said.

"And you probably remember that one of the last points, after which the authorities crossed all the red lines, was when the representatives of Donetsk and Luhansk in the second half of January offered me to come to Donetsk and take away four women, two of whom were sentenced to imprisonment for 12 and 14 years, and two were under investigation staying in prison. That was a humanitarian unilateral action that did not result in anything, because after my appeal to the Security Service of Ukraine for permission to go and return our citizens home to their families, to their relatives, it all ended in nothing. After that, the authorities launched an attack on opposition channels, after which the authorities illegally applied sanctions, and the authorities illegally began criminal prosecutions of me and my colleague Taras Kozak," the opposition politician added.

Earlier, on January 16, representatives of occupied Donbas in a joint statement announced their intention to unilaterally release four women (Natalya Stetsenko, Svitlana Dovhal, Natalya Savchenko and Kateryna Kotenko) who are being held in prisons. At the same time, it was noted that the Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk should act as a mediator in this release.

Medvedchuk appealed to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov with a request to assist in the transfer of four Ukrainian women from ORDLO through the Mayorsk checkpoint. However, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Leonid Kravchuk opposed it.

At the same time, since the beginning of the armed conflict in Donbas, thanks to Viktor Medvedchuk, 493 Ukrainians have returned home from ORDLO, and more than 1,500 Ukrainians have been released by the politician.
