The head of the customs office at the Black Sea port of Odessa Yulia Marushevska resigns. She announced that during her briefing, reported by one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
According to Marushevska all the tools for reforms on the regional level are exhausted, many projects are simply not being realized in spite of the control by the highest state officials.
“We managed to make many achievements over the last year. Today Odesa customs is an example for the whole Ukraine. When I entered the position, it was the most corrupt customs in the country, but now it is an example of a quick and effective work. Of course, it is impossible to change the State Fiscal Service having changed one regional customs. However this is a real impulse for the reforms in the country. Customs terminal, supported by the President and guaranteed by the Prime-Minister, is still half-constructed. Seaport Administration is not reporting where they spend the money allocated for the construction, Nasirov is throwing up the roadblocks and the bill on common customs space is blocked by the President’s faction. We’ve exhausted the set of the tools for the reforms, that’s why I announce my resignation,” – reports odessa.report, citing Marushevska.
