The official website of Tokyo 2020 Olympics removed the map with Crimea depicted separately from Ukraine. It has been replaced with another image, which can be seen easily.
A pop-up screen OLYMPICS - Cheer Zone with the interactive map appeared on the website. When enlarged, it features the image of Ukraine in its territorial integrity, i.e. with Crimea as part of the country. Previously, it was shown as separate from the mainland Ukraine.
As is known, the incident caused a public outrage in Ukraine. Foreign Ministry urged the embassies in Japan and Switzerland to take action in this regard.
The Olympic Games in Tokyo were supposed to take place in the summer of 2020. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the games were postponed for a year. The Olympics will run from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
