Alexandria federal court (Virginia, U.S.) heard the testimony of Rick Gates, the former political consultant of Paul Manafort, the ex-leader of Donald Trump's presidential campaign; Gates is considered the witness in the case where Manafort is charged with grave financial crimes, including tax evasions.
According to USNews.com, prosecutors 'summoned Gates, described by witnesses as Manafort's "right-hand man," to give jurors the direct account of a co-conspirator they say carried out an elaborate offshore tax-evasion and fraud scheme on behalf of his boss'.
The outlet added that 'Manafort and Gates were the first two people indicted in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential ties between Russia and the Trump campaign. But Gates pleaded guilty months later and agreed to cooperate in Mueller's investigation of Manafort, the only American charged by the special counsel to opt for trial instead of a guilty plea'.

Earlier, we reported that Paul Manafort, the former counselor and the ex-leader of Donald Trump's election campaign, had more than 30 bank accounts in three countries across the globe. Reuters reported that, commenting on the latest developments in his case.
This was necessary 'to “receive and hide” his income from Ukraine, a federal prosecutor said on Tuesday', the news agency wrote.
Manafort will remain in custody until the end of the hearings in his case, which kicked off today, August 1. The official is charged with financial and tax frauds.
