Ukraine should provide the independence of the law enforcement service from the political influence. Dalia Grybauskaite, the President of Lithuania claimed this at the joint briefing broadcasted by 112 Ukraine.
'The reforms should be consistent and open; they should provide the independence of all state services from the political influence and at the same time the backward process should take place', she noted.
'Our main demand to Ukraine is the provision of the NABU with the independence from the political influence. At the same time, the NABU should not participate in the political activity of Ukraine', Grybauskaite is sure.
She noted that Lithuania supports the demand for the creation of the anti-corruption court in Ukraine.
'Also, one more demand and recommendation is the further reforming of Prosecutor General's Office, particularly its fight against corruption', she emphasized.
Poroshenko also noted the inadmissibility of the political interference in the work of the anti-corruption bodies.
'I will not allow the discreditation of the work of these anti-corruption bodies or any law enforcement body in Ukraine', he claimed.
'It is necessary to fasten the setting of the audit and to provide the efficient protection from any political interference to the work of the NABU and politicization of the work of any law enforcement body', Poroshenko claimed.
The president of Ukraine assured that any representative of authority did not interfere in the work of the anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine since the day of their creation.
He noted that the reforming of all law enforcement bodies is necessary because they participate in the fight against corruption. The reforming of the Prosecutor's Office, the SBU and the National Police will continue.
The leaders of 'Petro Poroshenko Bloc' Artur Gerasimov and 'Narodny Front' Maksym Burbak registered a draft law 'On amendments to the laws concerning the provision of the parliamentarian control' that offers to provide the Verkhovna Rada to express the distrust to the heads of the NABU, the State Investigation Bureau, SAP and members of the NAPK.
Christine Lagarde, the MD of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the FBI spoke in support of the anti-corruption establishments of Ukraine. Earlier the US State Department of State and the EU expressed the solicitude on the situation with the NABU.
The NABU claimed that this draft law completely destroys the guarantees of its independence.
Mustafa Nayyem, the MP reported on December 7 that the Ukrainian parliament will not consider this draft law without the audit and it was removed from the agenda.
