In Vilnius, Lithuania, leader of the Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya and President of France Emmanuel Macron held a meeting and discussed the settlement of the political crisis and release of the political prisoners of Belarus, as Delfi reported.
“He promised us to do everything possible to help in the talks on (settlement) political crisis in our country,” Tsikhanouskaya said.
Moreover, ex-candidate for presidency Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya received a promise of help on the release of the political prisoners.
Macron has not commented on the meeting with Tsikhanouskaya yet.
Earlier, Tsikhanouskaya’s Spokesperson Anna Krasulina stated that the possibility of the organization of the talks on new presidential elections in Belarus and possible mediation of other countries, France, in particular, will be discussed.
On the weekends, the protests took place in Belarus, which was called the people's inauguration of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. Over 350 protesters were detained. In total, according to the law enforcement officers, 22 protests were recorded in the country on that day.
As we reported earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron called on Alexander Lukashenko to leave the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
