President of France Emmanuel Macron, who is currently on a working visit to Lithuania, is scheduled to meet with the leader of the Belarusian opposition, Alexander Lukashenko's main rival in the presidential election, Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya today, on September 29. This was reported by the administration of the President of France, Deutsche Welle reports.
The meeting between Macron and Tsikhanouskaya will take place in Vilnius.
In addition, the French leader announced his intention to support sanctions against the leadership of Belarus during a joint press conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda.

The parties discussed the political crisis in Belarus. The former presidential candidate thanked the United States for its support for the peaceful demonstrations in her country.
