President of France Emmanuel Macron insists on keeping the EU's tough position towards Russia, when it comes to the situation in Ukraine. Macron said so, replying to experts of a research centre of the Atlantic Council, as quoted by RBC.
"In certain issues, including the situation in Ukraine or in case with oppositioner Alexei Navalny, we need to keep the tough position", Macron said.
At that, the French leader believes that the dialogue with Russia is still possible on such topics as arms control. According to Macron, it would be impossible to maintain peace in Europe without such approach.
In November, Presidents of Ukraine and France supported the idea to hold the summit of leaders of Normandy Four countries as soon as possible.
Earlier, we reported that Macron may visit Ukraine by the end of the first half of the year. It was reported by the country's Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins.
"At this point, we do not have a date due to the pandemic. I want to be very careful, but I expect that this visit might take place by the end of the first half," said the ambassador.
