Macron and Trump held informal talks before G7 Summit

French and U.S. presidents Emmanuel Macron and Donald Trump held the unplanned negotiations in French Biarritz before the G7 summit. It is reported by Ukrinform.

"The leaders met on the hotel terrace for an informal dinner," the report said.

They communicated just at a time when relations between France and the United States began to deteriorate due to the introduction of taxes by Paris against large American multinational IT companies. In response, Trump threatened to impose 100% customs duties on the export of French wines.

Earlier, it was reported that leaders of the G7 countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, Japan) will discuss the situation in Ukraine at the G7 summit that is taking place in France on August 24-26.

European Council President Donald Tusk said that Ukraine should be invited to the next G7 summit. He also added that the resumption of Russia's participation in the summit should not be allowed.

U.S. President Donald Trump supported the return of Russia to the G7 on the eve of the next G7 summit.

President of Ukraine Zelensky believes that until the Russian Federation returns Crimea and ceases hostilities in Donbas, there can be no talk of tyhe country's return to the ranks of the G7 countries.
