Oleg Lyashko, the leader of Ukraine’s Radical Party, presidential candidate, delivered a speech at PACE in Strasburg and made the Assembly exclude the issue of Russia’s return to the institution from consideration, as Volodymyr Tsybulko, a political expert, wrote on Facebook.

“Four years ago, Russia was expelled from PACE for Crimea’s annexation and Donbas occupation. What has changed within these four years? Putin has not fulfilled any demands, his troops continue killing Ukrainians. Russian saboteurs exploded an ammunition depot in my native Chernihiv region, tens of thousands of people were evacuated. Two million Ukrainians lost their homes, jobs. Putin’s troops are murdering people in Syria. Except for Ukraine, part of Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan are also occupied. More than six armed conflicts on the European continent are Kremlin’s responsibility!” the leader of the Radical Party quotes his speech in PACE on Facebook.

Commenting on this speech, political expert Volodymyr Tsybulko noted that Lyashko protected Ukraine’s interests before the international community briefly and firmly. What is most important, according to the expert, thanks to this speech, in particular, the issue of Russia’s return to PACE was excluded from consideration.

Tsybulko said that Russian lobbyists are pressuring the issue of its return, as the organization needs Moscow’s financial contributions, so Lyashko’s criticism was fair:

“And PACE is discussing Putin’s return to the Assembly! This is not the amendment to the regulation, it breaks the principles for the sake of money. And this is the Europe we have to follow?”

“Regardless of how Ukraine treats Lyashko and his political force, today he acted like a diligent Ukrainian politician!” Tsybulko concluded.
