Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office, Ukraine’s Security Service and the National Police of Ukraine conduct 20 simultaneous searches. The reason is a number of connected cases where the state-run railroad company ‘Ukrazaliznytsia’ complained to have suffered economic losses; the enterprise received goods of low quality at unreasonably high prices.
Yuriy Lutsenko, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, reported this at Facebook on Friday.
According to him, by purchasing cabling and wiring products of poor quality, Ukrzaliznytsia suffered serious losses; due to only one particular financial operation, the enterprise lost over USD 600,000.
The organizer of the corrupt scheme was detained; he had 1.5 million U.S. dollars, which were seized from him.
‘Currently, the searches are conducted among those corrupt suppliers and at the offices of Ukrzaliznytsia, where they accepted this low-quality counterfeit – in breach of the technical norms,’ Lutsenko said.
