Leader of Belarusian opposition, main rival of current president at the elections Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya left for Lithuania as Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius reported on Twitter.

“Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is safe. She is in Lithuania,” he wrote.

Earlier, the headquarters of Tsikhanouskaya reported that it was unable to keep in touch with her. Before, the HQ stated that the woman was forcibly held at the Central Election Commission. However, the message was deleted soon and it was reported that the location of Tsikhanouskaya was unknown.

Later the mass media reported that Tsikhanouskaya got in touch and she's fine.

Moreover, the Belarusian State Security Committee reported the preparation of the assassination attempt on Tsikhanouskaya. According to the order of Lukashenko and State Security Committee’s Head, she was provided with 120 securities.

The presidential elections took place in Belarus on August 9. According to preliminary data from the CEC, announced on August 10, incumbent President Lukashenko won the elections with more than 80% of the vote. His main opponent Tsikhanouskaya  Tikhanovskaya has about 11%.

Meanwhile, foreign polling stations reported that Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya won. According to unofficial results, Tsikhanouskaya won presidential elections in Belarus.
