Administration of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has apologized for the incident with "Belavia", reported press service of the head of Belarus.
"Poroshenko has apologized for the incident with civil aircraft of Belavia airlines and informed the President of Belarus that those responsible be punished. Heads of state agreed that the appropriate services in the near future will hold consultations on security cooperation to prevent similar incidents in the future," stated Lukashenko's press service.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president's press service reported that Petro Poroshenko and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had a telephone conversation, during which discussed the cooperation within UN and other international organizations, and also welcomed the positive results of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Belarusian Commission on trade and economic cooperation. However, no information regarding an apology of Poroshenko was reported.
Earlier Belavia company, the national air transport operator of Belarus, stated that Ukraine forced their aircraft to land in Zhuliany airport in Kyiv. The passenger plane was on its way from Kyiv to Minsk, but the Ukrainian side ordered the crew to turn back and land in Zhuliany.
