Aleksandr Lukashenko wants to be recognized legally elected president, and he also expects the EU to lift the sanctions - in exchange for putting the end to the migration crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border. Eva Maria Lijmets, Estonian Foreign Minister said so as quoted by news.err.ee.

"Lukashenko wants the sanctions to be stopped, and for him to be recognized head of the state", Lijmets said.

In that regard, the official claimed that the EU needs to live up to the deal about the sanctions against the Belarusian government, which is developed by EU Foreign Ministers.

Earlier, presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia discussed the situation with migrants on the external borders of the EU and Belarus. The officials released a joint statement, in which they urged the EU to bring Belarusian president Aleksandr Lukashenko to justice for human trafficking. Yevropeiska Pravda reported that on November 15.

"The presidents are worried about human rights and safety of migrants who stay in Belarus and are forced to breach the border of the EU; they urge to bring Lukashenko's regime to responsibility for human trafficking", reads the message.
