The Office of the President of Ukraine believes that the current President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko cannot represent the will of the entire Belarusian people, but official Kyiv does not interfere in the affairs of this country. This position was voiced by the head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak on the air of Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster show, the press service of the head of state reported.
“Lukashenko is not all Belarusian people. We must constantly remember that there is a Belarusian people. There are people with whom Ukraine has friendly relations. Therefore, today the authorities must weigh everything, be wise and strong,” Yermak said.
He stressed that Ukraine wants to see Belarus as an independent country where human rights are respected, but does not interfere in the internal affairs of the neighboring state.
According to the head of the President's Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacts in a very timely manner to the statements and actions of the Belarusian authorities. At the same time, any actions that can be perceived as interference in the internal affairs of Belarus can then be used not only against Ukraine, but also against the Belarusian people themselves.
Earlier the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared the presidential elections in Belarus, which took place on August 9, illegitimate.
