President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated that power had been given to him not just to hand it over. He said this during the presentation of the country's new Prosecutor General, BelTA reports.
"I want to tell you like a man so that we do not have any misunderstandings. I often hear the following phrase ‘he is not going to give up power’. It is correct. The people have not chosen me for this. Like you, you are the owners of this power, its bearers. The power is not given so that you throw it and give it away," Lukashenko said.
Also, according to the president, he does not hold on to power for his own sake, and sooner or later other people will take power for him. However, it will happen not on the streets, but according to the law.
As we reported earlier, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko recognized that he ‘stayed too long’ at the post of the president.
Nevertheless, Lukashenko believes that only he can protect the Belarusians.
“Yes, possible, I stayed too long. Possibly, I am shown not only on TV but on everywhere. But only I can protect Belarus right now,” Lukashenko said.
