Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that the closure of airports in case of the introduction of a total lockdown in Ukraine is inexpedient. He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"My position as foreign minister - it is impractical to close borders or restrict air travel. At this moment, the lockdown is not threatening potential holidays abroad," stated Kuleba.

He also believes that it is inappropriate to ban foreigners from entering. According to the minister, the future lockdown is different from the one that was introduced this spring.

"There was no virus in the country this spring, and the task was to block the channels of its possible entry into Ukraine. Then it made sense to close airports and ban the entry of foreigners. Now the situation is completely different. The virus is already inside the country, as well as inside all other countries. I consider it inappropriate to impose an entry ban," added the official.

As we reported earlier, Ukraine's Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov will be recommending that the government impose the full lockdown in this country in early January.
