The authorities do not intend to mitigate lockdown conditions in Ukraine. The relevant statement was presented by the press service of the President’s Office and the National Security and Defense Council.
During a daily conference call with the participation of the President, it was concluded that it was too early to soften quarantine measures in Ukraine, especially on the eve of Easter when there was a threat of mass gatherings of people and many Ukrainians would return to the country to celebrate it with their families.
"Quarantine is what saves us. Because we introduced it in time, the coronavirus is not spreading that fast. We see that many Ukrainians are responsible for quarantine, although it is not easy," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said.
Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov also stated there was no "easing" being planned.
As we reported earlier, the State Border Guard Service expects that nearly 200,000 citizens may return to Ukraine by Easter.
"According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, at the moment about 17 thousand Ukrainians have declared their intention to return to the territory of Ukraine. Of course, not all of them are its citizens. We expect that about 200 thousand of our compatriots may return before Easter," the statement said.
