Lithuanian Foreign Ministry announced that Remigijus Motuzas, the ambassador in Russia will be withdrawn for consultations.
According to Delfi, the official will be withdrawn because of his exposure, which the Embassy received after the interview, in which he is considered a 'special witness'.
On April 10, Remigijus Motuzas was questioned as a witness in the case of the illegal visa issue.
' (...) Lithuania's ambassador in Russia R. Motuzas becomes vulnerable and casts a shadow on the diplomatic service', said President Dalia Gribauskaite.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius added that the status of the 'special witness' makes the official even more vulnerable.
This status is provided if a person is interviewed but cannot yet be charged due to the lack of legal grounds.

'Perhaps, it's even best for him not to go to Russia for some time', Linkevicius said.
