Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has granted official status to the representative office of the leader of Belarusian opposition Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya. LRT reported it.
"The Belarusian Democratic Representation is now an officially accredited institution in Lithuania," Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis noted. He handed the Belarus politician a corresponding accreditation note.
MFA calls this a symbolic step towards legal recognition of the Belarusian civil society and its aspirations for democratic changes in their country.
“Lithuania recognizes the democratic will expressed by the people of Belarus, a choice that has not been implemented in full,” the minister said.
According to Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya, this means that the Belarusian people now have an official representation in the EU countries.

As reported before, the Investigative Committee of Belarus demands the extradition of ex-candidate for presidency Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya.
During the 2020 presidential election in Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was Alexander Lukashenko’s main rival. She and her supporters didn’t recognize the official election results.
