The defensive wall of the length 46, 6 kilometers and of the cost 1, 3 million of euros on the border with Kaliningrad Region, Russia will be built by the company Gintreja. According to the agreement, the company should begin the building in the near time.
The work should end until December 20, 2017. The wall will be raised only on the border with Russia by land.
‘If the manufacturer does not let us down and he gives the materials in time we will begin the work on Monday. The pre-construction works are already conducted’, Gintaras Brokiavichus, the director of Gintreja reported to BNS.
He says that the building will begin in Jurbarkas Region on the site of 10 km length. The Gintreja Company does not produce the fence itself and buys it of Lithuanian enterprise. Brokiavichus cannot name it for commercial reasons. He also assures that the company received the offers to buy the fence from Russian manufacturers. However, they preferred to choose Lithuanian manufacturer.
The metal segmental fence will be built along the state border with Kaliningrad Region and its height will be 2 meters. It will be situated from the place of crossing of borders of Poland, Russia and Lithuania in the area of Vystytis and parts of the fence will be situated in the Shakiai and Vilkaviskis Regions.
The Border Guard equipped the border along Neman with technology systems of supervision. The new defensive wall will be raised on the border with Russia by land. The money for the construction of the wall is allocated from the state budget of Lithuania.
The Government of Lithuania made a decision to build the defensive wall on the border with Russia on May 10. Its length will be about 45 kilometers and it will cost 1,3 million of euros.
