The leader of the Free Democratic Party Christian Lindner stood for improving the relations with Russia and suggested that issue of the occupation of Crimea by Russia can become temporary for a long time. Lindner claimed that the West should make such offers to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin that will allow him to change the current policy and save face.
According to him, the security and prosperity of Europe depend on the relations with Moscow. Lindner noted that he violates some kind of taboo but he is afraid that the Crimea issue should be treated as the temporary for a long time.
