Law on military standards unification takes effect in Ukraine

The Defense Ministry will define which body will be responsible for standardization; General Staff of the Armed Forces and legal armed units will be developing and implementing these standards

The law No.2742-VIII "On military standards' unification" took effect in Ukraine on July 3. It stipulates that the Defense Ministry of Ukraine is supposed to define the body of military unification of standards - from among the subordinate authorities. 

The law also defines such categories as "military standardization", "military standard", "NATO standard", and the "standard in the security of NATO member country". Preparation measures of the state to defend itself in a peaceful time includes the unification of the military standards.

The Defense Ministry will define which body will be responsible for standardization; General Staff of the Armed Forces and legal armed units will be developing and implementing these standards. 

Within six months, the government is obliged to develop and implement the respective legal framework so that military standards developed by the Defense Ministry could start working.

The Ukrainian Parliament passed the law last month.
