It is noted that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a conversation with President of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio. The parties discussed the law on oligarchs approved by the parliament.
"Venice Commission President Gianni Buquicchio asked to provide the Commission with the voted text of the law in the wording signed by the head of state for consideration and preparation of an appropriate conclusion," the presidential press service said.
As we reported, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine considered bill No. 5599 on de-oligarchization without waiting for Venice Commission's opinion.
As it was reported earlier, the commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada on human rights Lyudmyla Denisova suggested to Razumkov to direct this bill to the Venice commission. According to Denisova, the law stipulates that the president and the National Security and Defense Council be endowed with powers not provided by the Constitution of Ukraine, restriction of human rights depending on property status, indirect introduction of censorship in the media, and so on.
