The Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov announced that the Syrian army has suspended combat operations in rebel-held eastern Aleppo. Russia’s foreign minister announced that on the sidelines of the meetings during the OSCE ministerial Council in Hamburg, reported by Interfax-Russia.

"I can tell you that today, combat operations by the Syrian army have been halted in eastern Aleppo because the next a large operation is underway to evacuate civilians," he said.

He said the move would allow the evacuation of some 8,000 civilians trapped in the battle zone.
