Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commented on the offer of the People’s Deputy Andriy Artemenko to hold a referendum on the "rent of Crimea" in Ukraine, saying that "it is impossible to rent something to yourself". He said this at a press conference, TASS reports.
"It is impossible to rent something to yourself, there’s nothing more to say", Lavrov said.
All this, according to the Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, "wittingly or unwittingly distracts attention from the need to fully, fully implement the Minsk agreements", to which there is no alternative.
Recall, MP from the Radical Party Andriy Artemenko developed the concept of making peace between Russia and Ukraine, and the lifting of sanctions from Moscow. His plan was transferred to an adviser of US President Donald Trump, Michael Flynn shortly before his retirement.
He suggested the withdrawal of Russian troops from the east of Ukraine and conducting a nationwide referendum to submit Crimea to Russia for lease by 50 or 100 years.
In addition, Artemenko allegedly provided evidence of corrupt activities of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, which included the names of the companies and the number of bank transfers. In his opinion, this should help to shift Poroshenko from his post and to bring the new government to Kyiv that will be not so hostile towards Russia.
