The President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis came with an official visit to Ukraine. During the talk with President Poroshenko the leaders discuss both bilateral relations and cooperation in the process of European integration, as stated by the press office of Ukraine's President. "Latvia will never recognize the annexation of the Crimea and will always support Ukraine," highlighted Raimonds Vējonis. He emphasized that the violation of international law by Russia is inadmissible.
Latvian official also stated that the European Union and his own country clearly stand in support of the position of independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He noted those who do not follow the international rules must act in compliance with the law or face the sanctions.
President Poroshenko thanked the head of Latvia for supporting Ukraine during the session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and vote on granting Ukraine the status of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
