The language scandal that became the personnel one took place in Dnipro Mayor Office. Borys Filatov, the Mayor of Dnipro initiated the dismissal of his deputy Svitlana Epifantseva who criticized the showing of the movies in the cinemas of the city and Ukraine in the state language.
Epifantseva published a post on Facebook on February 25 where she spoke on the closing of the cinemas in Dnipro due to their unprofitability caused by the showing of the Ukrainian-language films. Later she removed the post but the mass media made a screenshot of it.
The next day the official explained that she deleted the post due to the discussion that took place in the comments.
Today, the Mayor of Dnipro offered Epifantseva to resign due to her 'statement on the status of the state language and violation of the ethics of the official'.
'Recent time, Mrs. Epifantseva systematically allowed herself the controversial public statement and called the fair public outrage', Filatov explained and added that he does not intend to endure 'laziness, rudeness, excessive drinking and stupidity in the social networks'.
Later the Mayor revealed the details of his decision on the dismissal of Epifantseva.
The official complained that she did not succeed to get to her workplace in the morning.
According to the mass media, Epifantseva has been working in the Dnipro City Council more than two years. Her appointment raised the critics by the citizens and she was involved in the number of the scandals during the time of her work, including her controversial posts in the social networks that she used to delete.
