Language protection is not supposed to be a burden for the majority of people. Ukrainian MP, the head of the "Opposition Platform - For Life" party Vadym Rabinovich said on the 112 Ukraine TV channel during the Voice of the People show.
“I stand for language protection, but this protection should not turn into a burden for a great number of citizens. We should not impose it on them. My younger son goes to school, learns the Ukrainian language and speaks in Ukrainian with me because he feels like this. And this is right, there's nothing serious here. However, we cannot force those people, who have been speaking the Russian language for their entire lives, to be trapped in this mess”, - the MP said.
At the same time, Rabinovich is sure, that the bill on language will be approved beforethe presidential elections. “This bill was read at the first reading session, it is already planned for the second one, and it will be accepted before the elections kick off, I am more than sure about that. 2000 amendments will be added in a week; we personally added 700 amendments in order to slow the process down at least somehow. I’ve been on television for two years already and I have never made a mistake, thank God. But what comes next: they will pass this law for sure; this is one of their electioneering technologies. They do not care about the entire nation, they know perfectly well that no one will vote for them in Kharkiv and Odesa regions, except vote-ringing, so that’s why they do not care and continue to fight for gaining votes from people from other regions”, - the MP added.
