On Monday, August 23, a meeting of the energy ministers of Ukraine, Germany and the United States will take place in Kyiv, where they will discuss the issues of gas transit through Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky during a joint briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The President noted that during the meeting, the transition to green energy and the green course of Ukraine will be discussed
“We really discussed with the Chancellor the issue of extending gas transit through the territory of Ukraine after 2024. So far, I think these are very general things. Tomorrow there will be an important meeting. Three energy ministers will meet: Ukraine, Germany and the United States. Maybe more specific things will appear there - the transition to green energy and the green course of Ukraine", said the Ukrainian president.
According to Zelensky, "for Ukraine, the transition to green energy requires a lot of money and time."
"Therefore, I want to understand what Ukraine will receive and what it may lose after 2024, who and what guarantees will give to Ukraine," Zelensky summed up.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said during her visit to Ukraine that Germany is ready to support sanctions against Nord Stream 2 if Russia starts using the pipeline as a weapon.
