Negotiations on the repatriation of illegally convicted citizens of Ukraine Oleg Sentsov and Olexander Kolchenko continue in format of a possible equivalent exchange for the Russians detained in Ukraine. On this informs "Interfax-Ukraine", citing a source familiar with the situation.
"The Ukrainian side will continue to seek the extradition of Sentsov and Kol'chenko through diplomatic channels within the citizens exchange procedure. In this case, nationality of the exchanged persons does not matter", - said the source.
He noted that the failure of the Russian Ministry of Justice to hand over Sentsov and Kolchenko in accordance with the Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons of 1983 "was expected".
In addition, according to the source, it is possible that sentenced to long terms Ukrainians will be pardoned by the head of state, as it happened in the case of Gennadiy Afanasiev and Yuri Soloshenko, as well as the deputy of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Nadiya Savchenko.
