City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that Kyiv, according to preliminary estimates, will lose more than 35,5 million dollars due to a coronavirus pandemic. He stated this on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
"Right now, I can say that the losses, according to preliminary estimates, are about 35,5 million dollars, but I do not rule out that the amount may increase," he said.
According to the Klitschko, the situation is complicated by the fact that it is impossible to determine exactly how long the lockdown will last. He also said that Kyiv depended on the trends of the world economy.
The mayor also stated that he had asked the Cabinet of Ministers to abolish value-added tax (VAT).
As we reported earlier, on March 23, a train from Riga arrived in Kyiv with more than 100 people. Some of them may be infected with the coronavirus.
According to the results of the screening conducted by the border guards together with the employees of the sanitary-quarantine unit, there were five people with high temperature.
